Dan Dakich and Indiana Basketball… a lifelong love affair

As one of only two men to be 2-time captain under legendary Indiana University Men's Basketball Coach, Bob Knight, Dan Dakich and the State of Indiana have had a lifetime love affair.

Dan starred at Andrean HS in Merrillville, in leading the small catholic school to its only trip to the Indiana HS state finals in the non-class state tournament.

After matriculating to IU, Dan played on one Big 10 Championship team and captained and started on IU's Elite 8 NCAA Tournament run in 1984. In addition to captaining the Hoosiers, Dan won the prestigious Balfour Award for bringing "Honor and Distinguished Service" to Indiana University.

Dan spent a total of 17 years in literally every capacity on the IU Basketball staff from graduate assistant to Head Coach.

After a 10-year run as Head Coach at Bowling Green State University that included a MAC Outright title and two NIT Berths, Dan switched careers and launched "The Dan Dakich Show" on WFNI a local Indianapolis ESPN radio affiliate.
